I Don't Have a Mane: Poem Songs
Friday, May 13th, at Austin’s one and only The Mohawk, featuring Comanche Club, Crooks, Western Ghost House, Focus Group, and {{{Sunset}}}, Austin Bat Cave will present the first annual “I Don’t Have a Mane” CD release party and benefit concert.
For the past year, our students at Anderson High School have been hard at work exploring the depths of their imaginations learning about creative writing and songwriting. They worked with local musicians in the classroom and worked with our own highly trained songwriting staff of lead teachers, interns, and superb volunteers and wrote their hearts out and wrote lyrics. Lyrics about heartache, about acceptance, about the trials & tribulations of young adulthood, and, of course, about Katy Perry. These lyrics were then chosen by 9 local bands and put to music and then recorded and mixed and mastered and now they are going to be available to you, yes you, our adoring public, all on one fabulous CD.
Come out and celebrate another grand achievement of the students at Anderson High. Listen to great music, mingle with other terribly hip Austin Bat Cave fans, and while you’re there, stop by our Yearbook & Class Photo photobooth and walk away with a free, handsome class picture to remember the night by. The show is FREE, though we ask you to make a donation — between $5 and $10 if you can — and all proceeds go back into Austin Bat Cave to help support our free, exciting, and fun creative writing programs.

For the first time PRINT+addiction brings you the first out-of-town (out-of-state even) artist for our T-shirt Print Party series. The MIGHTY Aaron Draplin will descend upon our great city and bring a show only worthy enough to be shown in the Grandest state of the USA— TEXAS. PLUS we setup our 8 color screen print press with 8+ designs created by Aaron. here is the fun part, you come out and make s...ome art you can wear home. Make some shirts....purchase a blank shirt for $20 (or BYOS for $10), choose your layout with as many designs as you like to create our own one-of-a-kind shirt. So come out, have a drink, chill with friends and wear your art home!

In association with the Creative Workers Union, Lewis Carnegie is happy to have Aaron James Draplin of Draplin Design Co. will be showing his work and telling us his tale, the tale of a midwest kid who goes into a "two men enter - one man leaves" battle with the design world for all that is moral and just. This tail includes freedom, graphic arts, independence, fonts, things that are orange, weiner dogs and whatever else pops into his thinker on the big night.
Not only will you leave with stories ...to tell your grandchildren, but you'll have a chance to grab some great DDC merch. Now's your chance to shake hands with Dale Dixon as he shows you around the merch table to find that perfect DDC item for your home or workspace.

Small Talk
Lewis Carnegie is speaking at Austin’s AIGA's Small Talk about the partnerships in marriage and in business. This Tuesday February 9, 2010 from 6-7:45. We'll be sharing the stage with our friends, Shawn and Susanne Harrington of the Asterisk Group.
We'll be in the back of the Spider House (on Fruth) Come out if can - it will be fun.
