RPM Austin Web and Mobile site are now LIVE

We had the privilege to work on the new Reed Prototype and Model website. It was a inspiring opportunity to work with yet another local company that produces amazing work. RPM’s prototypes look so real and are so detail oriented, it’s easy to think they were fully functionable objects. Some of the favorite moments from this project come from walking through the shop with Phil Reed to see what was in production. There were numerous “I can’t believe you can do that!” conversations about their capabilities and product samples. That push-the-limit attitude was shared with what they wanted to do on their website. The last thing they wanted was a traditional site with type driven navigation. They wanted interaction with subtle surprises. The final development uses Flash (gasp!) but with custom code to be indexable and searchable across all platforms and browsers. The site utilizes many levels of randomization to keep it interesting for users – although simple enough to get to content easily when needed.

We also created a sister site for mobile platforms and non-Flash friendly browsers or tablets. It was fun to work within the limitations of the tablet screen size and navigation. Its a clean and simple solution but full of intuitive information that is available and intuitive to users. We look forward to pushing this technology as it develops.

We worked with Ross Henderson on development. We can't say enough good things about his quality of work and his capability to think beyond what exists and what can be done. Thank you, Ross!

Now live: Mixer

Must be something about spring – everything is blooming! Including several websites we’ve had in the works for a long time. First up: Mixer Design Group. Mixer pulled together a tailored team to execute their site, including developer Mike Gromer and the witty copywriter Rich Malley. We always say how important collaboration is for good design and this is a perfect example.

Delicious at Uchiko

The day Uchi + Uchiko site went live, we dined with friends at the much anticipated Uchiko. As expected, it was undeniably amazing. Each plate tasted better than the last. I heard "this is my new favorite" at least half a dozen times. Whereas preview openings usually reveal flaws in the service, staff or menu – we experienced none. Our waitstaff was seemless with knowledge and timing. We dined for three hours and it felt like one. I can't wait to go again.

Special thanks to the Uchi team for making this a super fun project to work on, including Justin Esquivel at Cultivate PR who handled all the last minute design and approval details. And, of course,  developer Anne Mitchelson for all her hard work in making the live site a perfect match to the original design.

Dan Winters 2.0

We are in the process of revising and updating a new revision of Dan Winters website. Has it been 5 years since the original website has gone live? This time around we are going to increase the size of the images to really give viewers the opportunity to study his wonderful images, incorporate the abililty to view the site on mobile platforms and optimize search standings.

New Work: Uchi /Uchiko Website.

Tyson Cole’s much anticipated Uchiko restuarant is coming soon – Its been a pleasure working with Uchi staff and Culitvate PR on the new Uchi + Uchiko web design.  As Uchiko’s menu and location is different from Uchi, the challenge was to give both restaurants equal presence. The result is left and right designation for each restaurant, with some pages featuring both when needed. We salivated through food photography and Uchi meals. ... we can’t wait to go to Uchiko in June. Site development finished by Anne Mitchelson – she rocks.

November Metcenter

I still laugh when I get these.

October Contemplentations

The best thing about the campaign for MetCenter is that it's working. Since the emails started 11 months ago, MetCenter has kept their development visible during a down market and seen a higher increase in website traffic. Plus everyone gets a chuckle when they arrive.
